Power Drive

The Italian supercar marque Lamborghini has let loose the Aventador S on the Indian roads. Coming just a few months after the Huracán Rear-Wheel-Drive Spyder, it is the carmaker’s fourth model to be launched in India in the last one year.

Packing in increased power and new driving dynamics, this four-wheel drive is the next generation of the V12 flagship and has a new aerodynamic design, redeveloped suspension and a more powerful engine. In fact the ‘S’ is the suffix that defines a new benchmark for the V12 Lamborghini.

Powering this bull is a naturally aspirated 6.5 litre V12 engine that outputs an additional 40 bhp over its predecessor, to a maximum 740 bhp, with a 690 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. The maximum engine revs have been increased from 8,350 to 8,500 rpm. Acceleration from 0-100 kmph is reached in 2.9 seconds, with a top speed of 350 kmph. The motor comes mated to a ISR 7-speed shifting system that sends power to all four wheels and provides precise and robotised gear shits in 50 milliseconds.

Its redesigned exterior with sleek with sharp lines helps achieve maximum aerodynamic efficiency. The driver can select between four different driving modes—Strada, Sport, Corsa and the new configurable (21 combinations) Ego. The car’s design, power and aesthetics is all powered to celebrate the ego of those who never want to stop and in fact goads them to live up to its catchline ‘Dare Your Ego’.

Sitting on the specially developed Pirelli P Zero tyres that are designed to optimise steering, traction, lane changes and braking efficiency, Aventador S comes at a price of Rs 5.01 crore (ex showroom, Mumbai). There are plenty of customisation options available for its interiors as well as for its new TFT digital dashboard that can have different kombi screens for Strada, Sport, Corsa in conjunction with the Ego mode as per the driver’s preference.
